It is a sad reality, but what you see is a typical good day of fishing for bowfishers. They oftentimes "catch" hundreds of pounds of fish in a single day, and with no legislation in place to regulate catch limits on rough species fish like carp and smallmouth buffalo, photos like the ones above will continue to be published by bowfishers.

Does it seem right to reduce a fish population by so much each and every time one has a bowfishing session?

Does it not seem like common sense that such pointless killing be limited/regulated?

Do we not realize that these fish are a viable economic resource?

Wild Carp Companies has hosted the Lake Fork Carp & Buffalo Challenge on Lake Fork in Quitman, TX since 2012 and would like to do so for many years to come. However, we fear that if legislation is not passed soon, we will continue to hear reports of mass killings at Lake Fork of 20+ lb carp and smallmouth buffalo. If such killing takes place for an extended time, there will no longer be a resource worth holding a tournament for.

With the smallmouth buffalo in Texas being some of the largest freshwater fish in the country, Lake Fork is in the international spotlight when it comes to carp enthusiasts investigating rough species angling in the USA. We want to set a positive example to the rest of the world (where carp angling is a billion dollar industry) that we care about these fish and realize their value as a resource for leisure and excitement and as an economic driver.

If you haven't already done so, please return to the change.org website and sign our petition to put regulations in place to stop/limit this senseless killing. We'd also appreciate it if you would share this petition on your social media. With as few as 800 signatures, the TPWD will take notice and start investigating.  With your shares, we can reach that goal!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH for taking time out of your day to learn about this issue and for any support you can give to this movement!
