Justin Taus, Tournament Director - Wild Carp Companies of Quebec
Justin's interest in fishing began as a young child. He grew up fishing pike, bass and panfish off of the dock at his cottage in Northern Ontario and continued fishing throughout most of his adolescence, mainly fishing walleye with his father during his summer vacations. In 2007, Justin "re-discovered" fishing—however this time, in and around the urban metropolis of Montreal instead of in the countryside. He began by fishing pike and bass in the city canals. By 2009, urban sport fishing became an outright obsession for him.
During the past few years Justin has been learning how to fish dozens of new species in a range of different situations, thanks to the help of some friends and mentors and because of tournament fishing. Luckily, the mighty St-Lawrence river that passes through Montreal is home to nearly 60 species of fish. Nevertheless, his preference is still-fishing for the big bottom feeders: carp, sturgeon and channel cats. No matter what he is fishing, as long as he is out on the bank somewhere you can be sure that he is right at home!
Justin by no means considers himself to be an expert fisherman, but rather, he admits that he still has much to learn. In fact, his motivation behind participating in the creation of the Wild Carp Club of Quebec is just that: to organize events in which passionate carp anglers (and beginners alike) are able to get together and share their knowledge and past experiences.
Justin is a Director of the Wild Carp Club of Quebec, established in 2012.
